Warning for Lincolnshire Drivers as Bank Holiday Getaway Set to Be Busiest in Years
Road safety partnership urges extra care, trip planning, and avoiding distractions
Drivers in Lincolnshire are being urged to take extra care on the roads this bank holiday weekend, as traffic levels are expected to reach their highest in more than a decade.
With the RAC predicting millions of getaway trips across the UK, roads are likely to be particularly busy.
Lincolnshire’s road safety partnership has issued advice to help keep people safe during the rush.
Simon Outen-Coe, from the partnership, is encouraging everyone to plan ahead and make safety a priority. He said:
“First thing is, when you're setting off, please plan your journey."
"Make sure you've got water with you in case you get held up at all in any traffic queues that may happen if there's been any collisions on your route."
"Make sure your car's correctly prepared and the tire's right.”
He also emphasised the importance of staying focused behind the wheel:
“Be patient and concentrate on what you're doing. It's really important you concentrate on those roads ahead of you and try and avoid being distracted by anything going on in your car. What we do find, unfortunately, is a lot of collisions are a result of distractions.”
Drivers are reminded to check their vehicles before travelling and to allow extra time for their journeys, as millions are expected to hit the roads for the bank holiday weekend.
