Two teenagers have been arrested after a baby was taken to hospital with serious injuries in Grimsby.

Police say the infant was brought to hospital in the early hours of Monday morning (9 March), prompting an investigation.

Detective Inspector Gemma Walker said officers are now carrying out a number of enquiries to understand how the injuries occurred.

She said: “An investigation has been launched whilst we carry out multiple lines of enquiries to establish the full circumstances surrounding the baby’s injuries, which are currently being treated as unexplained.

“A scene guard has been put in place at an address in Grimsby as our investigations continue and to allow officers to carry out their enquiries.

“A teenage boy and girl have both been arrested in connection to the incident, and I would ask that people please refrain from any form of speculation as enquiries remain ongoing.”
