Police were called to reports that two teenage boys had entered a parked van at around 4.15pm and attempted to drive off. The vehicle’s 57-year-old owner tried to stop the theft but was reportedly struck by the van, sustaining injuries to his leg and ankle.

Police arrived at the scene a short while after and arrested a 16-year-old boy on suspicion of several offences, including robbery, burglary, aggravated vehicle taking and causing injury, and driving a vehicle dangerously without a licence or insurance.
While in police custody, the 16-year-old was further arrested on suspicion of assaulting an emergency worker.
A 15-year-old boy has also been arrested in connection with the incident, on suspicion of robbery and wounding with intent.
Both teenagers are in custody as investigations continue.
