Two men jailed after Lincoln taxi driver punched and robbed
The pair were tracked down after the victim's stolen phone was recovered nearby
Two men have been jailed after a taxi driver in Lincoln was attacked and had his mobile phone stolen.
46-year-old Liam O'Leary, of Boultham Park Road, Lincoln, was jailed for three years and four months.
23-year-old Shane McHale, of Jarvis Close, Lincoln, was jailed for three years and two months.
Both men appeared at Lincoln Crown Court for sentencing on 18th August, having pleaded guilty to robbery.
The offence was committed on 31st March 2026.
How the attack unfolded
Police were alerted after a member of the public witnessed what appeared to be an attack on the taxi driver in his car on Dixon Street.
The two men then ran off.
The taxi driver had been restrained and punched to the head, causing bleeding.
How the men were caught
Officers tracked the victim's phone and used CCTV to find O'Leary in his flat nearby, along with McHale.
The victim's phone was also recovered at the address.
Police thanked the community, the witness who reported the attack and the victim for their cooperation and bravery, saying it had made the investigation possible.
