Tribute to “unforgettable” teen who died after entering Swanholme Lakes

The family of a 16-year-old boy who died after getting into difficulty at Swanholme Lakes in Lincoln have paid tribute to their “beloved son”.
Iretomiwa Abiodun Micheal, known as Tomiwa, died on Thursday 9 July.
Emergency services were called to the lake at around 5.48pm following reports of concern for his safety.
He was taken to hospital but died later that night.
In a tribute shared by Lincoln Police, Tomiwa’s family described him as “a vibrant, energetic, and unforgettable young man whose presence illuminated every space he entered.”
They said: “His laughter, warmth, and joyful spirit touched countless lives.”
Tomiwa’s family said he was the eldest of four brothers and was “a natural leader, a protector, a guide, and a constant source of encouragement.”
They added that he was passionate about football, playing for Greenbank FC and Lincoln City FC, and that he “never missed a training session or match.”
The family said football “was more than a sport to him; it was a calling he pursued with enthusiasm and discipline.”
They also described him as someone who made friends easily and “consistently sought the good of others and uplifted those around him.”
The family said: "Tomiwa leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, discipline, joy, and compassion. Though his life was short, it was profoundly impactful."
