Small change, big impact: all Lincolnshire Recycling Centres now offer free paint
RePaint sheds now open at all 11 Lincolnshire tips, allowing people to drop off leftover paint for others to reuse
A small change is making a big impact at recycling centres across Lincolnshire.
The county’s Community RePaint sheds are now up and running at all 11 household waste sites, following the opening of the latest store in Skegness this week.
The scheme allows people to drop off leftover paint, while others – from residents to community groups – can pick it up for free.
Not only does it save people money, it also prevents perfectly good paint from going to landfill, with over 12,000 litres saved so far.
To celebrate the launch in Skegness, a ribbon-cutting ceremony was held with Councillor Danny Brookes, the Mayor of Skegness, and members of the waste team who have worked on the project.
Rachel Stamp is Waste Partnerships and Project Manager at Lincolnshire County Council," this is all about behaviour change," she said.
"This is about making people cognisant of what they throw away. So we've had the feedback from the public that actually this really has made them think about what they do with other waste types as well.
"It's been phenomenal. The reaction on social media and when we see customers has just been 'wow, what a great idea',
"It's about re purposing, and it's also about moving waste up the hierarchy."
The Community RePaint initiative is part of a national network run in partnership with Dulux, helping people reuse and recycle across the UK.
