Investigation launched into sheep attack in Binbrook
Police believe a dog or multiple dogs may have been involved
An appeal for witnesses has been launched after sheep in Binbrook were attacked by what is believed to be a dog or dogs.
The incident occurred in a field near the old mill on Grimsby Road between 5pm and 8pm on 20th May.
Out of 57 sheep, three suffered serious facial injuries requiring veterinary attention.
Evidence at the scene suggests the involvement of a dog or dogs in the attack.
Lincolnshire Police Force Wildlife Crime Officer DC Aaron Flint highlighted the impact of such incidents on farmers, noting the emotional and financial consequences.
He explained the importance of dog owners keeping their animals controlled, referencing recent legislative changes that have increased penalties for livestock worrying.
DC Flint also underscored that under the Dogs (Protection of Livestock) (Amendment) Act 2025, even causing distress or chasing livestock constitutes an offence.
Penalties now include unlimited fines, with police granted enhanced powers for evidence gathering and dog seizure.
