Register your appliances for a safer 2026
Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue urge residents to register electrical items after Christmas to reduce fire risks
Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue are reminding people to register electrical appliances following the busy festive period of gift-giving and sales shopping.
As part of Register My Appliance Week, people are encouraged to register items such as air fryers, coffee machines, hair tools, and kitchen appliances so manufacturers can contact owners quickly if a safety repair or recall is required.
Amanda Matson, Head of Community Fire Prevention at Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue, said registering appliances only takes a few minutes but can make a big difference to home safety.
Both new and older appliances can be registered for free at www.registermyappliance.org.uk.
Residents are also urged to regularly check appliances for signs of damage, including frayed cables, loose wiring, damaged plugs, or devices becoming unusually hot.
Faulty items should be unplugged and inspected by a qualified professional.
Simple steps such as not overloading sockets, keeping appliances away from water, switching items off when not in use, and avoiding counterfeit products can help reduce the risk of electrical fires.
