Two Newark police officers on pushbikes have stopped five shoplifting suspects in their tracks during a busy two days of patrols.

The duo detained suspects at Northgate Retail Park, recovered stolen goods, and charged three people with shop theft.

Police Constables Ryan Flaherty and Richard Bombroffe made the arrests:

Another man has admitted to stealing from Newark shops and received a suspended prison sentence.

Police say the arrests show how effective plain clothes patrols can be in tackling retail crime.
