Three men charged after police operation in Gainsborough
Court appearance follows allegations of firearm conspiracy
Following a recent policing operation in Gainsborough, the authorities have charged three men in connection with alleged firearm offences.
The operation, conducted on Thursday, 3rd September, led to the arrest of Sonny Mclaggan, 22, of Chancel Road, Scunthorpe, Mitchell Davis, 24, of no fixed address, and Harvey Emmingham, 24, of Henley Court, Gainsborough.
They have been charged with conspiracy to possess both a prohibited firearm and ammunition for a firearm without a certificate and were remanded into custody after appearing at Lincoln Magistrates' Court on 5th September.
Their next appearance is scheduled for Lincoln Crown Court on 28th September.
Inspector Michael Head thanked the public for their patience and cooperation during the operation.
He reassured residents that there is no wider risk to the public and emphasized the serious stance taken against firearm offences in Lincolnshire, highlighting the dedication of law enforcement in keeping communities safe.
Inspector Head stressed the importance of public information in preventing crime and urged residents to report any concerns or suspicious activity.
The initial operation involved plain-clothed armed officers on Asquith Street, Gainsborough, which led to some distress and misinformation being circulated locally.
Authorities confirm that the operation, while conducted near a school, posed no danger to the community. It resulted in arrests of the men now charged, following a coordinated entry into a property.
Residents are advised that there may be a continued police presence in the area as investigations proceed, although no direct threat to the public has been identified.
