Plans for hydrogen plant near Humberside Airport could cut gas use at Lincolnshire quarry
Proposed facility would help power Singleton Birch’s site near Melton Ross.
Plans have been submitted for a hydrogen production plant in North Lincolnshire that could help cut gas use at a major local quarry.
Centrica Energy Storage+ wants to build the facility on land near the A18 close to Humberside Airport.
The hydrogen would be used to help power lime kilns at Singleton Birch’s Melton Ross quarry, a long-established Lincolnshire business.
Developers say the project could provide around 20% of the site’s energy needs and support efforts to reduce emissions.
If approved, the plant could be built by 2028, with some changes also planned to the nearby A18 junction to manage traffic accessing the site.
