Plans for a multi-use games area to improve a deprived area have been given the green light.
A football, basketball and netball ‘playzone’ will be developed at Sherwood Fields, Sherwood Road, in Mablethorpe, on an empty field owned by East Lindsey District Council.
As well as the tarmac court, there will also be seating for spectators and LED lighting to facilitate evening events, surrounded by fencing. An online booking system will be in place for the facility which will be open 9am to 9pm seven days a week.
The plans were put forward by applicant Hayley Wilson from Sis Pitches and will be funded through the Football Foundation’s playzone scheme.
East Lindsey planners approved the plans on Wednesday with Coun Robert Watson (Green – Sutton on Sea) saying the games area was an “essential part” of improving a “deprived area”.
