A shop in Newark Market Place has been the victim of theft twice in less than a week, with stolen stock valued at hundreds of pounds.

On 4th April, a shoplifter escaped with Pokémon cards around 4pm, leaving without making a payment.

The suspect is described as a white male, aged between 35 and 45, with a stocky build, wearing a navy-blue coat and jeans.

In a second incident, vinyl records were stolen during a burglary at the same store between 9th and 10th April.

A window was smashed to gain access, with the break-in occurring sometime between 5:30pm and 6am.

Police investigations are ongoing to determine if the two incidents are connected. A plea for information from additional witnesses has been made.

Sergeant James Brown, of the Newark neighbourhood policing team, stressed the impact of these crimes on local businesses.

“Small businesses like this are already facing considerable challenges, without the additional stress and expense caused by this kind of criminality. As we work to investigate these incidents and identify the people responsible, we urge any additional witnesses to come forward without delay,” Brown said.
