Newark knifeman jailed after being run over during street confrontation
A judge described the scenes as "disgraceful"
A man in Newark has been jailed after a violent street confrontation in College Close where he was twice run over while threatening others with a knife.
The incident took place on 17th July 2025 and involved Kieran Hogan, Mckenzie Warriner and Ruben Reynolds, with all three later appearing in Nottingham Crown Court.
The court heard that Hogan, 31, armed himself with a knife after an argument and stabbed a vehicle parked in the street.
CCTV captured Hogan chasing Warriner, 18, and another individual around the car. Warriner attempted to drive away but twice struck Hogan with the vehicle in his attempts to defend himself.
Reynolds, 44, also became involved, using a van during the altercation and found with a metal bar when arrested.
Judge Tina Dempster said it was "an absolute miracle" Hogan was not more seriously injured, remarking that he could have been killed and describing the events as "disgraceful."
Hogan, of College Close, Newark, admitted affray and possession of a knife and was jailed for 15 months, with a previous breach of a restraining order adding another three months to his term, making a total of 18 months.
Warriner, of Coneygrey Spinney, Flintham, Newark, pleaded guilty to affray, dangerous driving and assault by beating. He received an 18-month community order, 100 hours of unpaid work, 25 rehabilitation activity days, and was disqualified from driving for a year.
Reynolds, also of College Close, Newark, admitted affray and received a 31-week prison sentence. He was recalled to prison due to committing the offence while on licence.
Detective Sergeant Millie Gillett, of Nottinghamshire Police’s County CID team, called the incident “brazen street violence” and highlighted the dangers of knife crime.
She urged people to remember that carrying a knife puts lives at risk, adding the commitment of Nottinghamshire Police to tackle violence and knife crime in the area.
