Police arrest two men following tragic collision
A four-year-old boy has died after a crash involving an off-road bike and a car in Newark.
Emergency services were called to Churchill Drive at 6pm on 30th August following the collision report.
The child, a passenger on the off-road bike, was pronounced dead at the scene despite paramedics' efforts.
A 24-year-old man riding the same bike sustained serious injuries and was taken to hospital.
He was also arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
The car driver remained at the scene and spoke to police officers.
Investigations showed the off-road bike had been travelling in convoy with another bike, whose rider fled before police arrived.
Subsequently, a 32-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
Nottinghamshire Police are seeking information, especially dashcam, mobile, CCTV, or doorbell camera footage.
Detective Inspector Jamie Moore from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit said:
"This is a tragic incident and our thoughts are with the boy's loved ones at this incredibly distressing time."
He added that specialist family liaison officers are supporting the family and anyone with information should contact police quickly.
