It's been confirmed almost 100 properties so far across Lincolnshire have been flooded internally - with many in the Boston and South Kesteven areas

Although the situation is now improving across the county - There are fears parts of Newark could still be affected

River levels for the Trent are expected to be high this evening.

Paul Peacock is the leader of Newark & Sherwood district Council - he says 3,000 sandbags have been given out in preparation:

"We are continually assessing the situation.

"We have a fantastic team who work alongside the environment agency partners and Notts County Council and the fire service.

"We've got our flood wardens who are well trained and we've been delivering a large number of aquasacks".

A number of flood warnings are in place for the river trent area near Newark

Meanwhile Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue dealt with more than 150 calls about flooding in the county over the last couple of days.

This has included areas in and around Boston, Grantham, Louth, Sturton by Stow, Cherry Willingham, Greatford, Wainfleet and Trusthorpe.

Cllr Lindsey Cawrey, executive councillor for Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue and emergency planning at the county council, said:

“Once again our fire crews have been at the heart of the flood response within the communities they serve. I’d like to thank the frontline teams and all of those who work behind the scenes, who have been incredibly busy co-ordinating the best response possible to some really difficult incidents.

“We know flooding is a key risk to Lincolnshire and that weather events can be unpredictable. Following the significant storms last year, we invested in new flood pumps and dry suits for our firefighters in addition to the new technical rescue vehicles (TRVs) that carry water response equipment. These have been put to good use this week helping fire crews give essential support to residents.”
