Boy arrested after 10-year-old girl seriously injured in Metheringham park

Police continue investigation following incident involving children in Princes Street park

Police have arrested a 15-year-old boy after a 10-year-old girl was left seriously injured in a park in Metheringham.

The incident took place at around 3.30pm on Monday, 27th October, in the park next to the school on Princes Street, where a group of children had been playing.

The girl sustained serious injuries, which are not believed to be life-threatening, and remains in hospital receiving treatment.

A 12-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm without intent but has now been released without further action.

A 15-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent.

He remains in police custody as enquiries continue.

Officers are appealing for witnesses and are asking anyone who saw what happened or has dashcam or doorbell footage from the area to get in touch. They are also urging parents to speak with their children to find out if they witnessed the incident.
