Man jailed for multiple burglaries and theft in Boston

A 21-year-old man has been sentenced to 18 months in jail following an investigation into multiple burglary and theft offences in Boston between March and April 2026.
Bradley Smith, who has no fixed address, appeared at Lincoln Crown Court on 13th August charged with 10 offences, including two counts of burglary dwelling with intent to steal and five counts of burglary other than dwelling theft.
Smith pleaded guilty to all charges, which also included theft from a shop and possession of a controlled drug of Class B – cannabis.
The court heard that Smith entered commercial and home premises as a trespasser with intent to steal, including locations such as Fydell Crescent and The New England Hotel, Wide Bargate.
Among other offences, Smith admitted stealing cash, vapes, and cigarettes valued at £4,150 from Pilgrims Local in Market Place, and cash valued at £95 from Bulgarian Foods, Market Place.
Smith also stole items from various shops, including two doorbells and a chimer valued at £340 from Security and Surveillance, Horncastle Road, and cash of unknown value from Shepherds Bakery, Wide Bargate.
Additionally, Smith took bottles of Jack Daniels Whiskey valued at £180 from Morrissons Local / Daily, Wide Bargate, and a handbag and three purses of unknown value from TKMAXX, Horncastle Road.
Inspector Ian Cotton from Boston Neighbourhood Policing Team commented on the outcome:
“This offender showed a clear pattern of persistent criminal behaviour, but through close partnership working and the support of members of the public who provided key information, our CID colleagues were able to put him before the courts to hold him accountable."
Cotton further noted the community's role in the investigation, saying, "The public's willingness to report information through the correct channels was instrumental in enabling us to focus our resources effectively, ensuring the community received the right support when they needed it most.
