An investigation has been launched following the death of a woman in Lincoln.

Emergency services were called out in the early hours of this morning (10th March) to Prial close and a 51-year-old woman was taken to hospital. Sadly she later died.

Police say they are trying to establish the circumstances of the incident but are treating her death as suspicious.

A 60-year-old man was initially arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm, and has been further arrested on suspicion of murder.

He remains in police custody and will be questioned by Detectives.

Lincolnshire Police have said:

"A Home Office post-mortem examination will be carried out in the coming days, and we will provide a further update once we have more information.

For now, there will remain a heightened police presence at the location and surrounding area as our detectives, local neighbourhood officers, Response and staff from our Crime Scene Investigation team work to establish what has happened over the next few days."
