Lincolnshire police are investigating a collision where a woman reportedly let go off a pushchair and let it roll into the path of a lorry in Kirton.

The pushchair was hit on the A16 on Monday (5th January).

Officers say ‘a white or pink bundle’ flew up in the air.

Witnesses believed it to be a baby, but after extensive searches, no baby was found.

Detectives are now appealing for anyone who was travelling along the A16 on Station Road and saw the woman to contact them.

The woman is described as being in her twenties, wearing a three-quarter length brown jacket and trousers.

"naturally a very distressing incident for those involved..."

A Lincolnshire police spokesperson said, "Police have identified the driver and spoken with him. We are now keen to speak with the woman.

"It is believed the woman was walking along Middlegate Road West, Kirton, and made as if to cross the A16 to Middlegate Road East toward Frampton.

"Officers have conducted extensive house to house, CCTV, and dashcam enquiries. We are now reaching out to our community to see if anyone remembers this woman, recognises the description and may have seen her with an empty pushchair in the time leading up to the collision.

"This was naturally a very distressing incident for those involved and we would like to identify and speak with the woman concerned to make sure that she is ok as we are concerned for her welfare."
