Lincolnshire fire under control as crews assess closure at Norton Disney
Investigation into cause to follow once incident is closed
Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue teams have successfully brought an underground fire under control near Stapleford Moor, close to Norton Disney.
Crews are returning to the site to determine whether the scene can be declared cold and the incident closed.
Initially, six fire appliances were dispatched after the fire was reported at 6:32pm on Monday, 22nd June.
Efforts to fully extinguish the fire involved hose reels, drags, and beaters, tackling approximately 200 square metres of woodland, grassland, and undergrowth.
Currently, fire crews are assessing the situation, and further details will be provided upon closure of the incident.
Regarding the cause, a formal fire investigation is scheduled once operations on-site conclude.
There is no official determination of the cause at this time.
The latest statement from Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue highlights their comprehensive response efforts:
"Crews from Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue are in attendance following a report of an outdoor fire on Stapleford Moor, near Norton Disney, at 18:32 on Monday 22 June.
"At its peak six appliances were dispatched to the incident which has been brought under control but remains ongoing.
"Firefighters are utilising hose reels, drags and beaters in efforts to fully extinguish.
"Approximately 200 metres squared of woodland, grassland and undergrowth have been involved in the incident."
