A Lincoln gallery is encouraging families to make the most of free art and cultural activities during the Christmas break.

The Usher Gallery is offers free access to exhibitions by local artists, alongside a dedicated craft-making and learning space where children and adults can explore creativity together.

The aim is to give families a warm, welcoming and low-cost way to spend time together over the holidays.

“If you are looking for something to do this Christmas and you want somewhere warm and interesting and engaging to go, we're very family friendly,” said Laura Garner, Exhibitions Assistant.

“There are lots of activities in each of the spaces for people to engage with.”

“There is also a learning room downstairs where you can sit and make your own art, we'll provide lots of different inspiration and have an art library for further research,” Laura adds.

She says spaces like the Usher Gallery are becoming increasingly important as access to art education changes.

“Art galleries are still somewhere you can come and access creativity,” she says.

“The Usher Gallery was actually created for the city of Lincoln for people to come and experience and look at and have access to art,” she says.

“So that's a very core part of our mission.”

The Usher Gallery’s free exhibitions and hands-on activities are available throughout Christmas and 2026.
