Police were called to an address on Kirkby Lane shortly after 3.50pm on Saturday 24th October, following reports that a man had been assaulted.

Two men, aged 38 and 43, have since been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

The 43-year-old man remains in custody, while the 38-year-old man has been released on bail.

An investigation is ongoing to establish the circumstances of the man's injuries.

"We're grateful to the community for their patience while we investigate this incident," he said.

"There has been a police presence in the area and may continue to be over the next few days."

"Our investigation is continuing at pace and I would urge anyone who has any information that may be relevant, including any recorded footage, dashcam, headcam, doorbell footage or CCTV to get in touch," he said.

"I would also ask if anyone saw a light grey VW Arteon car being driven around the village between 9am and 4pm to contact me."

Police are appealing to anyone who was in the area at the time and may have seen or heard anything leading up to the assault, or who saw the grey Volkswagen Arteon, to come forward.
