Kevin Rawlings sentenced following lengthy investigation
Kevin Rawlings, described by the judge as manipulative and devious, has been sentenced to eight years behind bars for sexually assaulting a child repeatedly.
The 58-year-old from High Street, Spalding, was found guilty of 11 charges earlier this year and appeared at Lincoln Crown Court on 23rd July for sentencing.
Rawlings had denied three counts of sexual assault and eight charges related to non-compliance with a sex offenders notification but was convicted by a jury.
The offences, dating back to 2021, breached restrictions linked to his previous sexual offences.
He had been remanded in custody until his sentencing, where the judge outlined his manipulative nature.
After serving his sentence, Rawlings faces a potential recall to prison within four years of release if he reoffends.
The result follows an extensive investigation, which involved multiple agencies and officers from Lincolnshire Police working together to gather evidence.
DC Sarah Oliver of Lincolnshire Police commented on the case, criticising Rawlings for his total disregard for the victim and urging him to be ashamed of his actions.
"His behaviour is unacceptable on every level and there is no place for it in our county or society at large," Oliver said.
She praised the victim for their courage and maturity in coming forward, acknowledging the significant impact this has had on their childhood.
"I’d like to thank them for remaining steadfast in the investigation and it is thanks to their courage that he is in prison."
DC Oliver also expressed gratitude to all those involved in the investigation for their efforts to bring Rawlings to justice.
She emphasised the need for victims to report sexual offences to police and provided links to resources for those seeking support.
