Investigation launched after woman's body found in Louth

Lincolnshire Police have launched an investigation into the death of a woman in Louth.

The force were called to St Bernards Close in the town following a report that a woman in her 40s was believed to be deceased at a property.

Officers arrived and confirmed that to be the case.

Formal identification has yet to take place, but the believed next of kin have been informed and will be supported by specially-trained officers

A 40-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the investigation.

In a statement police said: "At this stage, we are keeping an open mind about the cause and circumstances of her death.

"This is where we need the help of our community.

"Where you in or around the St Bernards Close area, or in the wider town centre between 12 midnight and 4pm today?

"Do you have footage or other information about any unusual activity or noises in that area, particularly the St Bernards Close location during that timeframe?

"Any information you have will be valuable for our detectives as they work to understand what has happened."

The police remain on the scene, saying they expect to be there for the next few days.
