Police in North East Lincolnshire are aiming to crack down on anti social behaviour in Grimsby.

New 'Operation Mandala' has seen officers raid local addresses linked to drug misuse and supply in the East Marsh area.

Inspector Pete Musgrave, from Humberside Police, says the aim is to act on community concerns, "when they tell us information about drug dealing addresses it's important that we act on that," he said.

"That's part of the targeted activity that we're looking at doing on the East Marsh, and that's a really important focus for my team here."

Operation Mandala is named after the Hindu and Buddhist circle symbolising connections to all things - drug related crime has a wide reaching impact on communities in North East Lincolnshire and Humberside Police are aiming to listen to the issues raised.

"In response to the community's request for us to target those causing most harm in the community involved in drug dealing and social behaviour we've launched Operation Mandala.

"It's part of our coordinated campaign of timed activity."

Twelve officers were involved in a raid on Wednesday 16 July at a property on Victor Street in Grimsby.

One woman and two men were arrested on suspicion of possession of drugs.

Inspector Musgrave also tells us they'll be increased officer patrols as part of the operation.

"We'll be looking at that increased visibility, increased presence in those high hotspot areas of where we see an increase in anti social behaviour," he said.
