Human bones have been discovered in the garden of a property on Clouds Lane in Beltoft, sparking an extensive police investigation.

Officers were called to the site at around 9.15am on 10th November after reports of bones being found during groundworks on the property.

Detective Inspector Steve Antrobus, who is leading the investigation, confirmed the bones have been identified as human.

“An investigation has been launched following the reported discovery of bones whilst completing groundworks at the property,” Antrobus said.

“Following this call, officers were immediately deployed to the scene.

“Throughout the week many of our teams including patrol, neighbourhood police and specialist forensic officers have conducted extensive lines of enquiry that have led to the identification of the bones as human.”

Antrobus added that the investigation remains in the early stages, with excavation of the scene continuing as police work to determine the circumstances surrounding the discovery.

Residents in the area can expect an increased police presence while enquiries continue. Officers have set up a scene guard at the property to allow specialist teams to work effectively.

Police are urging anyone with information that could assist the investigation to get in touch by calling 101 and quoting log 89 of 10th November.
