Manipulative drug dealer jailed for exploiting teenager in Grimsby
Over £23,000 worth of drugs seized in operation
A Grimsby man who used a teenager to distribute drugs valued at nearly £23,000 has been sentenced to three years and seven months in prison.
Adam Cox, aged 38, from Heneage Road, was sentenced at Grimsby Crown Court on 10th August 2026 after pleading guilty to being concerned in the supply of class A and B drugs.
Cox initially denied charges of holding a person in slavery, possession with intent to supply drugs, involvement in drug supply, and possession of criminal property before changing his plea as the trial began.
Police were led to Cox in March 2021 following reports of antisocial behaviour in Barratts Recreation Ground.
Officers detained a 14-year-old found with suspected cannabis, leading to Cox's connection with further criminal activities.
Trading Standards in January 2022 discovered genuine designer items at Cox’s home, while police unearthed a bag of drugs, multiple phones, and over £5,500 in cash.
Items including snap bags, plastic tubes, and drugs were recovered soaked in bleach during a later raid.
Detective Inspector Tom Kelly highlighted Cox's manipulation of the teenager for his gain, overseeing a significant drug operation and laundering money through a children’s bank account.
HMRC confirmed over £80,000 moving through accounts linked to Cox, some used for personal expenses inconsistent with legitimate earnings.
Confiscation proceedings under the Proceeds of Crime Act will commence in October 2026 led by the Economic Crime Unit.
