Grantham's Heroes Orchard hosts Apple Day to celebrate military heritage and local produce
Visitors can enjoy apple tastings, crafts, and historical tributes at this commemorative event
Grantham’s Heroes Commemorative Orchard is set to welcome visitors for a Apple Day this Saturday, celebrating local produce and military heritage.
Located across 3.75 acres beside South Kesteven District Council’s Wyndham Park, the orchard features 75 heritage-variety apple, plum, and cherry trees, planted to commemorate the role of British and American Airborne forces in Operation Market Garden during World War II.
South Kesteven District Council contributes to this initiative as part of its military heritage commitments, working in collaboration with the National Trust, from whom the site is leased.
At the event, organised by the Wyndham Park Forum, attendees can explore apple trails, crafts, and puzzles, while sampling local apple varieties and apple bakes. Visitors are also invited to try their hand at making fresh apple juice.
This commemorative event offers an opportunity to honour history, taste the unique fruits of the orchard, and enjoy a family-friendly day out in the picturesque setting of Wyndham Park.
