Further hospital order for woman guilty of attempted murder of two children in Friskney
Anne-Marie McEvoy issued indefinite hospital order following lengthy judicial process
Anne-Marie McEvoy has been given a further hospital order following her guilty plea to the attempted murder of two children back in November 2022.
Appearing via video link at Lincoln Crown Court, McEvoy, 43, formerly of Church Walk, Colchester, Essex, is currently in a secure hospital after being deemed unfit to stand trial initially due to mental health issues.
Two boys, aged 10 at the time, were left with stab wounds from the incident at Fold Hill, Friskney, prompting immediate intervention by authorities.
Following a trial of facts in June 2024, the jury established McEvoy's intent behind the acts of wounding, but she was unable to be attributed with criminal culpability until recently.
On 16th July 2026, McEvoy pleaded guilty to the attempted murder charges, leading the court to issue her indefinite confinement within a secure hospital unit.
Presiding Judge Simon Hurst determined secure hospital settings provide the necessary long-term care given McEvoy's vulnerability to psychotic episodes, preferring this option to prison release which would lack adequate safeguards.
Detective Constable Emma Dodsworth of Skegness CID acknowledged the complexities of the case during proceedings and hoped for privacy and support for the victims as they continue rebuilding their lives.
Dodsworth noted the importance of the hospital order both in maintaining public safety and providing McEvoy with essential medical intervention.
The outcome marks the conclusion of a challenging legal process, prioritising continued protection for those affected and necessary support for the offender.
