Free Holiday Clubs a ‘Lifeline’ for Lincolnshire Families This Summer
HAF programme offers food, fun and support as cost pressures rise
Families across Lincolnshire are being offered free holiday clubs this summer, described as a lifeline for those struggling with the cost of living.
The Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) programme gives children on benefits-related free school meals a chance to enjoy healthy meals and fun activities while schools are closed.
Natalie Oliver from Lincolnshire County Council highlights how important the scheme is for parents.
“For families around here, it's very expensive to buy school uniform right now. And I'm trying to help as much as possible to reduce the cost as much as possible,” she explains.
The extra help from HAF clubs means children can stay active and fed, and families can worry less about finding extra money for the summer holidays.
The clubs are designed to do more than just keep children busy. Kids who attend get the chance to make new friends, learn about healthy eating, and try new experiences in a safe environment.
Natalie says many parents appreciate having somewhere reliable for their children, as it helps them manage other rising costs too, including uniforms and everyday essentials.
The HAF programme runs at approved clubs across Lincolnshire from Thursday twenty-third July to Wednesday second September, aiming to give children happy, healthy holidays—while taking some pressure off families when it’s needed most.
