Four teenagers have been arrested and five properties searched by Grimsby West Neighbourhood Policing Teams as part of a series of hotspot operations targeting drug crime in the West Marsh area.

Working alongside officers from the Kinetic Intervention Team, the Grimsby West team carried out two Misuse of Drugs Act warrants on Haycroft Street and Macauley Way on Thursday, 9th October 2025.

Upon searching the Haycroft Street address, police discovered a small amount of suspected Class B drugs.

Shortly after returning to base, officers were called out again after receiving reports of a group of boys allegedly linked to drug activity in the area. Two 16-year-old boys were swiftly located and arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class B drugs, being concerned in the supply of Class C drugs, burglary, and theft from a motor vehicle.

During the ongoing investigation, a further two 14-year-old boys were arrested. Officers then conducted searches of three more properties, finding additional quantities of suspected Class B and C drugs.

All four teenagers have since been released under investigation while enquiries continue.

Police statement

Neighbourhood Policing Inspector Claire Jacobs said:

“We know that drugs and the crimes associated with them can have a real impact on communities and that is why tackling these kinds of offences remains a priority for us.

“Today’s activity is a continuation of the proactive work my teams have been conducting alongside partners on the West Marsh over the last few weeks, and members of the public can expect to see my teams offering visible reassurance to the local community as we continue to tackle concerns around crime in the area alongside North East Lincolnshire Council, and other agencies.

“It isn’t just about disrupting and preventing crime, it’s also about building trust with communities and local businesses, and safeguarding those who may be vulnerable to crimes of this nature.”

Hotspot funding impact

The operation was funded by Hotspot Action Funding from the Home Office, distributed by Humberside Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) Jonathan Evison. The Grimsby West Community Team received £23,000 to address serious and organised crime, violence, and anti-social behaviour in identified hotspot areas.

Police and Crime Commissioner Jonathan Evison said:

“It’s great to see the impact that additional funding through the Hotspot Action Fund is having in communities like West Marsh.

“This funding is enhancing our existing efforts to proactively tackle anti-social behaviour and serious violence. Providing a visible police presence in our neighbourhoods and engaging with the local community is an essential part of this, helping to get weapons and drugs off our streets and making sure perpetrators are held accountable.”

Residents with concerns about drug dealing or other crimes are urged to speak to their local officers, visit their nearest police station, or call the non-emergency number 101. Information can also be given anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. In an emergency, always dial 999.
