Four fires in a day across South Holland district
Police are appealing for further information
Lincolnshire Police has received four reports of fires across the county's South Holland district in the last 24 hours (31st July).
The force expressed concern that some of them could have been caused by young people engaging in antisocial behaviour.
These reports come during a period of exceptionally hot and dry weather across the UK, with large areas of the country in drought and major fires being reported.
This phenomenon is happening on mainland Europe as well, with fires west of Madrid becoming Spain's largest on record.
Lincolnshire Police said: "With the hot, dry weather we've been experiencing, even a small fire can spread quickly and cause serious damage to fields, wildlife, property, and nearby communities.
"Starting a fire isn't harmless fun.
"Parents and carers, please talk to your children about the dangers and consequences of lighting fires."
