Man in his 70s dies in A16 collision near Louth

Road closed after crash involving two vehicles

A man in his 70s has died following a collision on the A16 near Louth.

The fatal crash occurred yesterday afternoon, involving two vehicles: a silver Renault Megane and a red Volkswagen Transporter.

Emergency services were alerted to the incident around 2.35pm, and the driver of the Renault was pronounced dead at the scene.

His family is receiving support from specially trained officers.

There was a passenger in the Renault who was seriously injured and taken to hospital, while the driver of the Volkswagen suffered minor injuries.

The section of A16 Grimsby Road near the Fairfield roundabout in Louth was closed shortly after 3pm.

The road was reopened just before 2am today.
