Families who've lost a child will be offered specialist support at a new centre in Grantham

The National Grief Advice Centre opens it's doors on Monday, and is aiming to provide a healing space for those going through trauma.

Founder Matt Wainwright feels the new centre will be vital for children and families:

"Basically when a child passes away or a member of the family - it tends to be the parents are grieving, and the children get less grief support.

"So we are looking at offering the support for families so everyone get's the equal support so everyone can get the help that's needed".

Emma Webber who is the mum of Nottingham attack victim Barnaby - is a patron of the charity.

At the launch event yesterday Barnaby's Dad, David Webber spoke to us:

"Grief is something that can just pull people apart and destroy people.

"I think places like this where people can come and get help they can just talk.

"Sometimes all you want to do is talk to someone who can listen - they might not necessarily understand and that doesn't matter.

"But more than anything else can listen and just be a sounding board, and places like this are so important."

The facility is designed to help people with the unbearable pain of loss and grief.

The well being centre on Wharf Road in Grantham will provide a safe space for people to share their experiences.

They'll also be experts on hand to offer advice.

Ellie Carter is from St Barnabas Hospice in Lincolnshire:

"I think this centre will be vital in providing the community with the bereavement and grief support that they need.

"Especially for child bereavement, I don't think it's very seen across Lincolnshire so it will be really vital for that."
