Grimsby Town’s FA Cup run has come to an end after a 1–0 defeat to Wolverhampton Wanderers at Blundell Park.

The League Two side produced a determined performance against their Premier League opponents, but the game was decided by Santiago Bueno’s second-half goal, which sent Wolves through to the fifth round.

In difficult and muddy conditions on the Lincolnshire coast, the Mariners battled throughout and came close to forcing an equaliser late on. Andy Cook had a chance in the closing stages, while Wolves needed a last-ditch defensive block in stoppage time to hold on to their lead.

Despite the disappointment, Grimsby exit the competition with their heads held high after competing strongly against top-flight opposition.

The Mariners now turn their focus back to league action, with Walsall set to visit Blundell Park next
