84-year-old jailed for 18 years for sexually assaulting two children in Spalding
Man found guilty of 13 sexual offences spanning decades
An 84-year-old man from Moons Green in Spalding has been sentenced to 18 years in prison for sexually assaulting two children over multiple incidents.
William Lynas was sentenced at Lincoln Crown Court on 3rd September after being found guilty of 13 sexual offences that took place between the 1980s and 2023.
Both victims were children at the time of the offences.
Despite denying the charges, Lynas was convicted by a jury, resulting in his long-term incarceration.
He will remain on the sex offenders register for life and has been given an indefinite restraining order concerning both victims.
Detective Constable Victoria Oaks, the lead investigator, acknowledged Lynas' detrimental impact and commended the bravery of the victims who came forward.
Oaks highlighted Lynas’ arrogance during the trial, noting his attempt to deceive the court by appearing frail only to be spotted walking normally afterward.
