Councillor Jonathan Noble appointed Mayor of Boston
Noble brings years of public service to the role
Councillor Jonathan Noble has been inaugurated as the 491st Worshipful The Mayor of Boston following the Mayor-Making Ceremony held on Monday, 18th May.
With a nine-year tenure as a Boston Borough councillor, Cllr Noble initially served from May 2015 until May 2023, returning in May last year.
Previously, Noble was Portfolio Holder for Finance, offering extensive experience in public service.
He has been a Boston area resident since 1979, maintaining deep community ties.
Expressing gratitude, Mayor Noble stated: “It is a tremendous privilege and honour to become the Mayor of Boston. The town has a glorious history and I’m sure will have a prosperous future.”
With a degree in Politics, Noble has taught history for over 40 years, including as head of history at three Lincolnshire secondary schools.
Since 2006, he expanded his teaching to music, specialising in guitar and bass.
He remains committed to inspiring young people through education.
Beyond academia, Mayor Noble is an accomplished writer, scripting historical plays primarily for the Lincolnshire Regency Society, where he is Chairman.
The society engages in period costumes, character performances, and traditional dancing, celebrating history.
Cllr Noble also enjoys blues and rock music, composing pop songs.
His family heritage links to Leeds, Ireland, and England, with familial ties to teaching and military service.
As Mayor, Cllr Noble aims to foster collaboration with residents, local groups, and young people, advancing the town's growth while honouring its heritage.
The civic year sees Yvonne Stevens as Mayoress, with James Cantwell appointed Deputy Mayor and Deborah Sands as Deputy Mayoress.
