A man who stole more than £700,000 from his employer in Lincolnshire has been jailed.

Brian Sinclair, 54, of Oldham, has been jailed for three years and eight months.

He admitted abusing his senior position at a Lincolnshire company to defraud the business out of around £700,000.

Lincoln Crown Court heard how Sinclair worked as a manager at Noble Foods Ltd based in North Scarle for 20 years.

He was responsible for managing stock levels across the company.

Investigations found that he was diverting existing stock and placing false orders with manufacturers between 2018 and 2019.

He ordered packaging materials, then sold them on to recycling centres and kept the profits.

The company therefore lost stock and had to pay for stock they never received, as well as haulage costs.

Sinclair also had invoices altered to hide the fraud.

DC James Norton, the investigating officer from ECU for this case, said: “This was a calculated and sustained abuse of trust. Over a prolonged period, Sinclair exploited his position for personal gain, defrauding his employer of £700,904. This was not a momentary lapse in judgement but a deliberate course of conduct that caused significant financial harm."

Sinclair pleaded guilty to one count of theft; four counts of fraud by false representation; and two counts of fraud by abuse of position.
