A man responsible for the death of a woman in Spalding has been given a hospital order with restrictions.
Brian Simpson, 66, was responsible for the injuries that killed 37-year-old Kristine Sparane in November 2024.
A court heard she suffered several heavy blows to the head.
Her body was found at her home on Winsover Road on November 27th.
Simpson was due to face a criminal trial, but doctors said his mental health meant he was unable to properly understand or take part in the proceedings.
A hearing was instead held to establish what happened, and in May 2025 the court found Simpson responsible for the injuries which led to Kristine's death.
He's now been given a hospital order with restrictions following a hearing at Lincoln Crown Court.
This means he will receive specialist treatment in hospital and will remain subject to restrictions aimed at protecting the public.
The court can allow criminal proceedings to restart in future if Simpson's condition improves enough for him to understand and take part in a trial.
Detective Superintendent Jennifer Lovatt, who led the investigation, said: The court has carefully considered the evidence presented and has determined that a hospital order is the most appropriate outcome.
“While this does not diminish the seriousness of the incident, the order ensures that Simpson will receive the specialist treatment and supervision required, while also providing protection for the public.”
