Huge £8-million boost to improve Lincolnshire's roads
42 carriageways set for resurfacing
Lincolnshire County Council is investing £8 million in a comprehensive road resurfacing and reconstruction programme aimed at enhancing the county's road network.
The scheme, which spans from October this year through March next year, encompasses 42 separate projects.
These efforts form part of the council's ongoing commitment to improve road conditions across Lincolnshire.
The road works will see old surfaces removed and replaced with new materials designed to fortify the carriageway, providing a smoother and longer-lasting top layer that enhances safety and performance.
Cllr David East, executive member for highways, expressed the importance of this investment in Lincolnshire's infrastructure.
"This is another significant investment in Lincolnshire's roads and demonstrates our commitment to maintaining and improving the highway network for residents, businesses and visitors," Cllr East said.
"These schemes will deliver real improvements right across the county, helping to create safer, smoother journeys and reducing the need for more extensive repairs in the future," he added.
Andy Creasey, county programme manager for Highways, described the focus of these programmes as critical to improving roads vital to local communities.
"Our resurfacing and reconstruction programmes are focused on improving the condition of roads that are important to local communities," Creasey said.
"By carrying out these works now, we're extending the life of the highway and improving the overall quality of the network for everyone who uses it."
Residents and motorists will receive prior information before road works commence.
The council intends to install advance warning signs ahead of each project to detail upcoming works and any necessary traffic management arrangements.
The highways works programme will update regularly, providing the latest information on planned roadworks across Lincolnshire.
