Police investigate reports of falsified birth certificate in trafficking case

Humberside Police have arrested a man and woman in connection with suspected human trafficking offences.

The pair, a 38-year-old man and a 31-year-old woman, are suspected of falsifying the birth certificate of a child in efforts alleged to be tied to human trafficking activities, following reports received on Wednesday, 15th April.

They are currently in police custody assisting detectives with ongoing enquiries related to human trafficking and fraud by false representation.

The investigation by Humberside Police's Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Team was prompted through information shared by partners, including Border Force and Organised Immigration Crime, stressing the importance of collaboration in tackling complex crimes.

Detectives encourage anyone who suspects signs of exploitation, modern slavery, or human trafficking to report to police..

Crimestoppers and the Modern Slavery Helpline are also available for anonymous reporting.
