The A1 in Lincolnshire is shut in both directions following a serious collision near Foston.

The closure is between the A52 at Barrowby and the B6326 at Balderton. Emergency services, including Lincolnshire Police, are currently at the scene.

Delays are expected for drivers approaching the area, and diversion routes have been put in place. The road is likely to remain closed into the morning rush hour due to ongoing collision investigations.

Diversion routes

Drivers heading north are advised to follow the hollow circle diversion signs.

Northbound travellers should leave the A1 at Barrowby and turn left onto the A52 heading west. Follow the A52 to the roundabout with the A46 at Saxondale and take the fourth exit onto the A46 northbound. Continue on the A46 to Newark on Trent and the roundabout with the A1, where the A1 can be rejoined northbound.

For southbound traffic, motorists should follow the hollow diamond diversion signs. Drivers should leave the A1 at the A46/A17 Newark junction and turn left onto the A46 southbound. Continue on the A46 until the A46/A52 Saxondale Island and turn left onto the A52. Continue for approximately 19km until reaching the A52/A1 Barrowby southbound junction to rejoin the A1.

Road users are advised to allow extra time for their journey, plan ahead, and consider re-routing or delaying travel if necessary.
