A 7-year-old Grimsby Litter Picker Fundraises for Local Wildlife
Arthur Gibbons inspires community with clean-up campaign and charity drive
A seven-year-old from Grimsby is turning heads this summer—not just for his bright HiVis jacket, but for his determination to tidy up his hometown and support a cause close to his heart.
Arthur Gibbons has spent his school holidays collecting rubbish around Grimsby, raising hundreds of pounds for Cleethorpes Wildlife Rescue. His mum, Jodie, says Arthur’s passion for the environment started early.
“He’s always cared about the environment,” she said. “He just wants to get rid of as much litter as he can from around the area. I’m super proud to see him doing something he loves.”
Arthur first set out with a modest goal of £50, but the kindness of supporters has helped him raise more than £400 so far.
“Thank you everyone for the donations, it’s really good for Cleethorpes Wildlife Rescue. I’m so excited I could flip to the moon!” Arthur said, adding, “I never thought I’d get more than fifty pounds.”
Now Arthur is inviting the community to join him for a group litter pick on the Willows on Saturday 22nd August. “Please come along and help protect our environment,” he urged. “You can stay for as long or as little as you like—and there’ll be sweets for children who help out.”
Councillor Bob Callison applauded Arthur’s efforts, saying: “What Arthur is doing is brilliant. Not only is he cleaning the area, but he’s also raising money for a local cause all at the same time! Let this be a lesson to everyone else to look after the borough and take pride in where you live.”
