Woman in Blackpool arrested for attempted abduction of a baby

A 51-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of child abduction and police assault in Blackpool

Lancashire Police have reported a 51-year-old woman after an attempted abduction of a baby in a pram on Central Drive in Blackpool.

This happened near Coral Island, as she attempted to walk away with the pram at around 12pm yesterday noon (Saturday 10th May).

After parents and public intervening in the event, the baby remaines safe and unharmed.

Shortly after, police arrested the woman on suspicion of child abduction and police assault.

Chief Inspector John Jennings-Wharton, from Blackpool Police has spoken on behalf of the investigation:

"We know that something like this can be very concerning for the community to hear about. We are in the early stages of our investigation and working to establish the full circumstances.

Blackpool Police and Lancashire Constabulary are urging anyone with information and footage to come forward in order to help enquiries.
