Woman dies following fire at a property in Morecambe

A woman has died following a fire at a property in Morecambe.

Police received a report of a blaze on Rydal Court, in the town shortly after 2:45pm on Sunday (11th May).

Emergency services were called out and despite their best efforts, a woman in her 60's was pronounced dead at the scene.

Lancashire Police said:

"Our thoughts are with her loved ones at this distressing time.

"A joint investigation, between ourselves and Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service is in the early stages, and anyone with information is asked to contact 101 quoting log 0774 of 11th May."
