Two, including former Wigan Boys' Brigade captain, jailed for sexually abusing boy
Two men have been sentenced to a total of 23 years in prison for abusing the same victim
A former Boys' Brigade captain has been jailed for 16 years after sexually abusing a teenage boy in Wigan.
Stewart Knowles, 62, of Rylands Street, Wigan, was sentenced after being found guilty of 18 sexual offences against a boy aged between 13 and 15 between 2005 and 2007.
Andrew Lord, 62, of Vicarage Road, Orrell, has also been jailed for seven years after being found guilty of four sexual offences against the same victim.
The court heard the abuse happened while Knowles was a captain with the Boys' Brigade in Wigan. The victim was a member at the time.
Lord was not connected to the Boys' Brigade.
In a victim impact statement, the survivor said: "The actions of both perpetrators have had a profound and lasting effect on my life."
He added: "The abuse changed the way I see myself and the world around me."
He also told the court: "The abuse was not a single event that ended when it stopped. Its effects have been long-lasting and continue to affect my emotional wellbeing, relationships, and quality of life."
