Ashley Dalton MP, alongside Lancashire’s Police and Crime Commissioner Clive Grunshaw, has secured funding for Stable Lives, a charity in Parbold that supports individuals with mental health challenges.

On 19th June, Dalton and Grunshaw visited Stable Lives to witness firsthand the impact of the funding on the charity’s programmes aimed at supporting young people either at risk of offending or already part of the criminal justice system.

Stable Lives will implement a structured programme that includes six-week or year-long courses tailored to individual needs. The initiative aims to make young participants feel secure and valid, while offering long-term education and support plans. The charity provides a weekly youth group, helping young people make friends and combat isolation.

This funding is one of four projects supported by Ashley Dalton’s Police and Crime Commissioner MP fund. Other beneficiaries include kNOwKnifeCrime, First Kick Foundation, and About the Town CIC.

Local organisations can now apply for the next round of funding, with applications closing on 14th July.

Ashley Dalton, MP for West Lancashire, expressed enthusiasm for Stable Lives’ work:

“After securing this funding for Stable Lives through the Police and Crime Commissioner, I couldn’t wait to see the charity in person and hear about the impact this funding will have.

“It was fantastic to learn about the courses that are being provided for young people in a safe and supportive environment, providing a proactive approach to behaviour change. A top priority of mine is reducing crime in West Lancashire and it’s programmes like this one that help us get there.

“This funding is open again for organisations with relevant projects and I encourage local groups to consider applying.”

Police and Crime Commissioner Clive Grunshaw highlighted the importance of early intervention:

“It was powerful to visit this project and hear about the difference this support is making for young people.

“By providing a safe environment, positive role models and tailored support, programmes like this help young people build confidence, develop new skills and avoid the risks of getting involved in crime.

“Through my Community Fund, we are investing in early intervention that tackles the root causes of offending and helps create safer communities for the future. These grants deliver targeted, evidence-based projects that deliver value for money and ultimately make Lancashire safer.”

Carrie Byrom, Director of Stable Lives, commented on the programme’s impact:

"Behind every young person at risk of entering the criminal justice system is a story that often includes trauma, loss, and unmet need.

"Stable Lives provides a place where those young people can feel safe, valued, and supported. By combining emotional support with practical learning and personal development, we help them see beyond their circumstances and believe that a different future is possible.

"We are incredibly grateful to the Police and Crime Commissioner and to Ashley Dalton MP for their support in helping to secure this funding. Their commitment to early intervention and prevention will enable us to reach more vulnerable young people, providing the stability, guidance, and opportunities they need to make positive choices and build brighter futures."

Local organisations interested in applying for this funding can find more information on Ashley Dalton's official website or contact directly via email for further assistance.
