Police teams in Preston have carried out a successful day of action targeting anti-social behaviour and drug dealing in areas identified by residents as hotspots.

On Thursday 11 September, officers from The Prosper Partnership and Preston’s Neighbourhood Policing Team joined forces with Lancashire Constabulary’s Mounted Branch for a coordinated operation across St Matts, Fishwick and Ribbleton. The action was in response to concerns raised through the Lancashire Talking survey, which invites residents to highlight issues affecting their communities.

Plain-clothed and high-visibility patrols were carried out throughout the day, with officers engaging with residents and focusing on areas linked to reports of drug activity and anti-social behaviour. As a result of the operation, three people were arrested—one for breaching bail conditions and two for recall to prison.

Mounted officers also played a key role in the patrols, helping to increase visibility and reassure the public.

Sergeant Tom Rettie from Preston’s Neighbourhood Policing Team said:

“Our communities have told us about the areas of concern for them, and that’s why it’s imperative we carry out these days of action, to provide reassurance and help our residents feel safer in their areas.

“We are continuing to work closely with our partners to address these concerns, but we need to urge the local community to tell us about the concerns they have so that we can work to combat them.”

Residents are encouraged to share their views and concerns by completing the Lancashire Talking survey at survey.stayintheknow.co.uk.
