Three arrested over suspected money laundering in Accrington

Two men and a woman have been questioned and released under investigation.

Three arrests have been made by Lancashire Police into suspected money laundering offences in Accrington.

Officers detained a 29-year-old man after stopping and searching a black VW Golf in Blackburn Road, on 9.50pm on Monday 18 May.

He was arrested on suspicion of money laundering, after large quantity of cash was seized his underwear.

His home addresss was then searched, and a 32-year-old man was also arrested on suspicion of money laundering, after several thousand pounds in cash where found in a bedroom.

A 55-year-old woman was also detained at the address on suspicion of assisting an offender, after it's thought she tried to dispose of tens of thousands of pounds in cash.

They have been questioned and released under investigation as police enquiries continue.
